Master Builders has signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding with Site Safe, reaffirming a shared commitment to improving health and safety outcomes across New Zealand’s building and construction sector.
“This formal partnership builds upon a longstanding relationship between our two organisations and represents a significant step forward in our shared mission to create safer, healthier worksites,” explains Brett Murray, Chief Executive of Site Safe.
The MoU was signed in the lead up to Site Safe’s Evening of Celebration in Auckland, which recognised scholarship recipients and graduates from Site Safe’s Health and Safety in Construction Certificate Programme. The event highlighted the professionalism, commitment, and leadership being demonstrated across the industry in lifting health and safety standards.
Ankit Sharma, Chief Executive of Registered Master Builders, said, “Through this collaboration, builders across the country will gain enhanced access to practical, expert-led safety insights designed to support them in their day-to-day operations and ensure every worker can return home safely at the end of each day.”
Reflecting on the evening, Sharma said it was both humbling and a privilege to see individuals recognised for investing in safer practices and stronger capability within the sector.
The renewed MoU extends and refreshes the existing agreement between Master Builders and Site Safe, ensuring the partnership remains relevant, practical, and responsive to current and emerging industry challenges.
At a high level, the MoU provides a clear framework for collaboration focused on:
- Improving health and safety practice through shared insight, education, and industry leadership
- An annual joint work programme to guide priority initiatives, engagement with regulators, and emerging site management and compliance issues
- Practical support for members, including exclusive education opportunities, health and safety resources, and preferential access to Site Safe services
- Regular senior level engagement to review progress and strengthen coordination across the sector
Both organisations said the partnership reinforces a shared commitment to industry led solutions that support Master Builders members to meet their obligations, strengthen capability, and contribute to safer, more resilient worksites.
